The situation.
A family-run medical practice had been selling products through the practice's own website. The products fell into a category that must not be sold under a clinical entity, and the practice was told to stop. They needed the store to become a separate business, on a separate domain, with the right language, and they needed it to keep selling in the meantime.
The constraint.
The legal side was being handled by their lawyers. Our job was everything the lawyers could not do: the entity's technical existence, the store, the payments, and the migration, on a timeline set by a regulator rather than by us.
What we found.
The existing store lived on a legacy provider that held the customer list, the product catalog, and the order history, and would not make any of it easy to leave. The product photography could not be reused because it belonged to the old context. And the old processor would not follow the store into its new category.
What we built.
Working alongside their lawyers, we set up the new company's technical footprint: a fully separate domain, a new site with the compliance language the category requires, and Workspace and DNS in the new entity's name. We migrated the entire store, customers, products, and orders, from the legacy provider to a virtual private server the client owns and pays for at cost. We generated a new set of product images with AI so the catalog launched looking finished. We connected the store to the practice's existing Mailchimp account so customers and staff get order notifications through the tool they already used. For payments we put a Zelle checkout in place as an interim manual method, filed the high-risk processor application through TagadaPay, and switched the store to the gateway when it was approved.
What changed.
The practice stopped selling products under its clinical name. The new company started selling the same products, to the same customers, on its own domain and its own infrastructure, without a gap in revenue.
- new entity, new domain, compliance language
- full store migration to client-owned VPS
- Mailchimp order notifications
- interim Zelle checkout, then TagadaPay
